Availa Bank Welcomes New Market President in Council Bluffs
Availa Bank is pleased to announce the hiring of Mitch Kay as the new Market President in Council Bluffs. In this role, Kay will lead the Council Bluffs market in business development, lending oversight, and overall financial performance. He is focused on strengthening Availa Bank’s presence in the community while supporting long-term, relationship-driven growth.
Kay brings nearly twenty years of experience in banking and finance to this role. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer for Pottawattamie County, overseeing financial operations, capital planning, and long-term financial strategy. Kay has also worked at several banks in commercial and agricultural lending roles, gaining extensive experience in credit analysis and portfolio management. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Buena Vista University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Northwest Missouri State.

Kay has lived in Pottawattamie County for the past 40 years. He currently serves as the Mayor of McClelland, is an Underwood Community School board member, Noon Rotary Club of Council Bluffs member, and a sitting member of the Emergency Management Commission. He has previously served on nonprofit boards that foster community development and strengthen support services. He is a Leadership CB, class 29 graduate.
